This perennial has small green flowers that are clustered against the foliage. Sand Bur has a high salt tolerance and requires little water. They are also fire resistant and have fire retardant properties. It is commonly found along the beach and in sandy, coastal areas. This tough, sprawling plant can be found growing amongst Abronia,Camissonia cheiranthifolia, Distichlis spicata and other beach loving species. It provides stabilization on sandy slopes and will do best in coastal conditions.
