Plant Highlights

Acton Encelia, also known as Acton Brittlebush, is a fast growing compact shrub that is found in the Joshua Tree Woodlands, the Colorado and Mojave desert, and Owens and Death Valley. This tough shrub can handle hot sun, cold, and wind as long as it has well draining soil. This Encelia’s beautiful yellow sunflower-like flowers stand out against its wooly grey-green foliage. The abundant flowers available from winter through summer are used by butterflies, bees, other pollinators, and birds. They also make outstanding cut flowers. The Acton will grow to about 3’ by 3’ and needs full sun and very limited water after its first summer. It will make a great addition to the hottest spot in your garden!
