Plant Highlights

Santa Ana Cardinal is an outstanding red flowered hybrid of H. maxima and H. sanguinea that forms vigorous and free flowering 2 by 2 foot compact clumps of bright green foliage. Multitudes of vibrant rose-red flowers appear on 2 foot tall spikes from mid-spring through the summer. Plant in cool full sun on the coast to light shade inland with moderate to occasional summer water once established. This is a fantastic hummingbird plant. Mix in masses with white and light pink heuchera for a remarkable effect in shady spots under oaks and in woodland gardens
