Plant Highlights

Island Snapdragon, or Nuttall's Snapdragon, is an annual or short-lived perennial herb that is native to California and is found only slightly beyond California borders.
A delicate, miniature snapdragon with tiny, blue-lavender flowers. It is drought tolerant but will tolerate some summer water. Watch out for over-watering. Plant with other plants that it can use as support. Without support, it is a vining plant usually less than 3 feet high; with support it may reach the tops of shrubs considerably taller. This plant does best in part shade away from the coast.
Nuttall's Snapdragon is most commonly seen in chaparral and coastal sage scrub after fires and in disturbed areas of those communities.
